Surrealist Film
Surrealism was a European artistic movement in the 1920's. Surrealism came from Dada (1916-1922)
Dada was a lotta weird stuff, mainly served to say "haha this doesn't make any sense, it's so cool, down with society." I think that's a respectable outlook to have on life.
Surrealist films aim to upset, disorientate and shock.
Jean Cocteau "When I make a film, it is a dream and I am sleeping."
Spellbound - Hitchcock hired Salvador Dali for the dream sequence because Dali is a mater of his craft. Even Hitchcock knows when to hire somebody who knows better.
