50's Animation

50's Animation

Yugoslavian animation The Big Meeting 1951. It has a nice duck and funny typewriter guy. I like how he types so aggressively. The the guy with the boxes comes out, the boxes sway and each individual box tips a little, it's simple but very nice. The frogs we also very nice, good frog design.

Canadian animation Neighbours 1952 directed by Norman Mclaren. It features real people who are stop motioned sometimes and filmed normally other times. The techniques like the flower moving about and the fellows sliding around were probably revolutionary at the time, but it's the sort of thing you see in no budget youtube videos now. Still fun though. It's real simple but its also real charming. Good times. When they start beating each other up it really picks up. I really liked that.

British animation Animal Farm 1954. Tells the tale of that one book about communist pigs. Classic.

Tom Thumb 1958

The Fabulous World of Jules Verne 1958. The special effects this guy Karel Zeman did were so good. with all those stop motion effects and such. Nice.

Croatian film Samac 1958. Sad typewriter man :(. He looks like the professor from the powerpuff girls. It's a nice style. I guess cartoon network took some inspiration from this sort of thing, it's so simple, but so nice.

Japanese animation Legend of the White Snake 1958. It is very anime. Dragon spirits and something happening in space, none of it I understand.
