J. Stuart Blackton & Albert E. Smith were the first to use stop motion. In The Enchanted Drawing, a man draws on paper and the pictures start to move. He does some weird stuff like draw a hat, then pick it up. It's super simple but it's the first.

George Melies made a movie where he gets chased by a lotta chairs.

The Haunted Hotel is the first of these that actually looks like proper stop motion, with things moving by themselves and even a little puppet guy walking around.

El Hotel Electrico features a scene where a lady gets her hair styled by a magic comb.

Wladyslaw Starewicz made The Cameraman's Revenge (1911) features bugs moving around, there's so much drama. He also did Take of The Fox which looks like a real film.

The Sculptor's Nightmare is an early claymation featuring statues of busts being built up by themselves.

The Automatic Moving Company has the entire interior decor of a house set itself up. I quite like this one. It's real smooth,

Miracles In Mud - We Accuse. More claymation with a strange octopus that grows a face.

Willis O'Brien made The Lost World and King Kong. Classics.

Ray Harryhausen made some damn good stopmotion stuff with live action and stop motion. There are skeleton fights and everything.

Rankin and Bass Productions made a lot of holiday specials. There were too many of these things.
