The Oscars horribly out of touch at this point, but really, they always have been. The best picture winner this year was a complete joke, Green Book the most generic of the nominations, meanwhile The Favourite and Roma are leagues above everything else nominated and they pick the most safe and boring thing. At this point, it's not even a surprise, it's been happening since the beginning of The Oscars. 

The worst part is that New Zealand's own Peter Jackson didn't even get a best documentary nomination for they shall not grow old, that's a real shame.
